Case Study

Hard Times B-B-Q

Restaurant cabinet sign using faux-rust aluminum and dimensional lettering.

The Challenge

The sign required historic district board approval and needed a weathered look that fit the Marysville Historic District, but real Corten rusted steel plates were too heavy for the roof mount and frame. Additionally, the sign needed a way to stand out visually and comply with historic guidelines without relying on standard internal cabinet lighting.

The Solution

Visual Impact Signs crafted a lightweight sign using two 1/8-inch aluminum panels finished with a stained faux-rust technique, topped with brushed aluminum letters set on 1.5-inch stand-offs. To illuminate the sign and highlight its metallic texture without internal lights, we installed targeted, exterior LED floodlights mounted below the display.
